Frequently Asked Questions
Who will work on my project?
The designer that we assign is determined from the brief, allowing us to match the skills of our team with your requirements. By working this way you will have only one point of contact, and we are able to build up an idea of your requirements much more quickly.
How many drafts will I receive?
For logo design projects we'll provide up to 4 initial mood board concepts. For most types of page layout work (such as brochures and leaflets) we'll send you 1 or 2 options in the first instance. We try to involve you in the process as early as possible, allowing you to give us your input and avoiding us going in the wrong direction. This is a fixed price service, so we must limit the number of design revisions.
What about photographs?
We will usually expect to work with your own photographic images. These need to be supplied in as high a resolution as possible (size at least 5 mega pixel – higher preferable) in JPEG or TIFF format. You need to ensure that you have copyright approval of any images that you have not personally taken, so as to avoid any cost or copyright issues with the photographer. If we need to source stock images then you will need to pay a royalty fee. We will advise you about these extra costs before we make any commitment on your behalf.
Which file formats will I receive?
For a logo design project, the final files that we supply are:
- Original Artwork: EPS v10 vector files & PDF
- Preview Internal/General Use: 300dpi JPEG file in RGB colour mode TIFF (high-quality uncompressed image) in CMYK colour mode
- Online Use: GIF files (small, medium and large sizes)
For all page layout projects, the final files will be:
- Original Artwork In either InDesign® or Illustrator® formats. These files allow you to edit the designs in future without necessarily returning to us.
- Print Ready High-resolution PDF files with printers’ marks and colour information, set up for commercial print.
- Preview/Email Standard PDF files without printers’ marks, reduced in file size for preview, e-mail and download purposes.
- We'll also include a user guide and full technical specifications including colours and fonts.
How long does it take?
In general, most design projects complete within 4 weeks, depending on the type and size. However the time taken really depends on how quickly you give your feedback to any proposals and drafts. It is vital that we know in advance about any specific deadline that you are working towards.
Can you accept a rush order?
This might be possible, but really depends on the pressure on our designers at the time you make a request.
When do I make payment?
All we ask is a deposit of £100 with your order. The balance of any design fees are payable once you have agreed the final design concept. Print invoices need to be paid before despatch unless you have agreed account facilities.
Payment can be made by Paypal, cheque or direct bank transfer (BACS).
Who owns the copyright?
Our logo, stationery and brochure designs are created without any use of templates or clip-art so we are able to transfer the copyright entirely to you. A document confirming the transfer is supplied at the end of the project. For page layout work, we are unable to transfer the entire copyright as the design may contain stock photography which we are using under licence.
Do you arrange printing?
Although we primarily offer a design service, we can and do arrange printing on behalf of our design clients.
